Paintings for Pediatics
Painting a brighter future for pediatric cancer.
Paintings for Pediatrics — an all-volunteer organization dedicated to raising money to fight back against childhood cancer — partners with local art studios to provide art supplies for pediatric patients to express themselves through art on canvas. At their annual gala event, they auction these paintings to raise funding to support their mission.
Their goals are to raise awareness, help fund research through existing organizations and provide financial relief for families battling childhood cancer. They aim to make a positive impact on precious young lives and give families the opportunity to regain self-confidence and a sense of belonging.
CHALLENGE
The digital presence that Paintings for Pediatrics occupied didn't reach potential donors nor explain who they are or why they exist. They didn’t have an established brand look, language or architecture and needed those to fulfill their mission.
OUTCOME
I spent my first month talking with the founder to learn more about the organization and explain why it was time to dive into a rebrand – the reason being that their existing presence didn’t tell potential donors who they are or what they do. With a bold new brand to share their mission with the world, Paintings for Pediatrics has a bright future ahead of them.
Note: There was also a discussion of a new logo exploration, but ultimately the organization decided their logo carried significant recognition with existing partners.
WEBSITE
The before-and-after of the branding implemented in their website took their aesthetic from zero-to-hero. While artwork was the brand, it wasn’t doing their online presence any justice. I did pitch them on considering a new logo design, but they felt they had too much equity in the current logo.”
SOCIAL & CONTENT
Having never used any social platforms before, they were starting from scratch. My ongoing research on impact of design on platforms and executions supported my design decision to lead with vertical graphics for organic placements in order to disrupt newsfeeds and gain a sustainable following over time.
